Description
The Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) intends to repatriate certain cultural items defined as sacred objects that have a cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. A total of 15 sacred objects including Koi (Adze), Pohaku Luhee (Octopus Lure Sinker), Umeke Poi (Poi Bowl), Ulumaika (Disc Bowling stone), Kapa (Bark Cloth), and Ie Kuku (Kapa Beater) are involved. These items were acquired between 1932 and 1936 and donated to a museum formerly located at Sacramento City College, part of LRCCD. The repatriation may occur on or after August 3, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted in writing to LRCCD.
