Description

The University of Rhode Island (URI) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains representing at least 39 Native American individuals and 67 associated funerary objects. The cultural affiliation has been determined with the Narragansett Indian Tribe. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 3, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted to URI's authorized representatives.
