Description
Gilcrease Museum intends to repatriate certain cultural items classified as unassociated funerary objects that have cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The items include a stone scraper, a turtle effigy pipe bowl, and a chunkey stone, all removed from unknown sites in Mississippi. The repatriation process is conducted in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Repatriation may occur on or after August 3, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted to the authorized representative at Gilcrease Museum.
