Description

The University of Michigan has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified at least one individual of Native American ancestry and one associated funerary object. The remains were removed from the Corpus Christi site in Nueces County, Texas, and the associated funerary object is a lot of botanicals collected in 1930. The University has determined a cultural affiliation with several Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations. Repatriation may occur on or after August 3, 2026, and written requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Michigan's NAGPRA Office.
