Description
This project aims to divert low-risk, first-time offenders in Tunisia to probation and community service, enabling the country to allocate resources to high-threat criminals. It involves expanding probation services to all 24 governorates by establishing probation offices in the remaining four governorates and standardizing services nationwide. The project includes training criminal justice sector actors and community stakeholders, increasing public awareness of probation benefits, and standardizing procedures using information technology to streamline processes. The initiative seeks to reduce prison overcrowding, lower recidivism, and mitigate risks of radicalization among incarcerated individuals.
