This opportunity involves the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposing the sixth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 6) for public water systems: - Government Buyer: - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water (OGWDW), Standards and Risk Management Division (SRMD) - OEMs and Vendors: - EPA is the only OEM mentioned; no commercial vendors or manufacturers are specified - Products/Services Requested: - Monitoring and laboratory analysis for 30 unregulated contaminants in drinking water - 7 ultrashort organofluorine compounds (including PFAS) - 3 pesticide metabolites - 13 semivolatile organic compounds - 7 purgeable organic compounds - Specific chemical substances are listed with CAS Registry Numbers (CASRN) - Analytical methods specified: EPA Methods 524.3 Enhanced Sensitivity, 525.3, 540, and 563 - Notable Requirements: - Applies to public water systems serving 3,300+ people and a representative sample of smaller systems - EPA will cover analytical costs for systems serving 10,000 or fewer people, subject to appropriations and lab capacity - Data collected will inform future regulatory decisions and be made publicly available - No specific product part numbers or purchase quantities; this is a regulatory monitoring and data collection requirement, not a procurement of goods or services - Monitoring period proposed from 2028 to 2030, with all monitoring to be completed by 2031
Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing the sixth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 6) to gather data on unregulated contaminants in drinking water. The rule would require public water systems serving 3,300 or more people, and a representative sample of smaller systems, to monitor for 30 contaminants including ultrashort organofluorine compounds (including certain PFAS), pesticide metabolites, semivolatile organic compounds, and purgeable organic compounds. The data collected will be publicly available and will inform future EPA regulatory decisions. The EPA is also holding two virtual public meetings to discuss the proposal and is accepting comments until August 31, 2026.
