Description
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), part of the Department of Justice, intends to temporarily place four synthetic opioids into Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. These substances include 5,6-dichloro brorphine, 5,6-dichloro desmethylchlorphine, N-propionitrile chlorphine, and spirochlorphine, along with their isomers, esters, ethers, salts, and salts of isomers, esters, and ethers. The temporary scheduling order will impose regulatory controls and sanctions applicable to Schedule I substances. This action is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to public safety due to the substances' high potential for abuse and lack of accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
