The Missile Defense Agency (MDA), part of the Department of Defense, is seeking innovative solutions to enhance radar and communication systems for the Missile Defense System. - Government Buyer: - Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Department of Defense - Requested Technologies and Services: - Research and development of quantum and photonic technologies - Emphasis on low size, weight, and power (SWaP) photonic and quantum transceivers - Technologies must be compatible with modern sensor requirements - Solutions should enable direct sample and/or heterodyne structure software defined radios (SDRs) - Focus on common building block technologies for future integration - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Open to innovative, early-stage technology proposals (SBIR/STTR program) - No specific part numbers or quantities provided - Solutions must address advanced radar and communications needs for missile defense - This opportunity is for research and development, not for immediate product procurement.

Description

The Missile Defense Agency seeks to advance and incorporate quantum and photonic technologies that can augment current state-of-the-art radar and communication systems into fielded hardware. These photonic technologies, coupled with measurable quantum effects, aim to dramatically increase the resilience and effectiveness of sensors and radios in the Missile Defense System. Selected proposals should provide a pathway to common building block technologies for direct sample and/or heterodyne structure software defined radios (SDRs). Priority will be given to low size, weight, and power (SWaP) photonic and quantum transceivers compatible with modern sensor requirements.
