The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers–Norfolk District (USACE–NAO), is excited to announce an Industry Day for construction contractors interested in the Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) Section 206, Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration, Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for businesses of all sizes and socioeconomic categories—large and small—to engage with the Government regarding the upcoming construction project.

The event will include presentations encompassing overview briefs of project followed by a live Q&A session. The Government will begin with a general discussion of the project scope, followed by presentations on the current design and environmental considerations. After the presentations, there will be time for questions and feedback.

The Government is seeking feedback from construction subject matter experts and firms. The Government is particularly interested in discussions of construction means and methods, best practices, and any potential contractor scheduling limitations. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one virtual meeting to provide this feedback in a more discreet setting.

Project Overview:

The project proposes to restore approximately 1,400 linear feet of shoreline including wetland, beach, and oyster habitat. Oyster sills would be constructed from VDOT Class II stone and the restoration of the historic wetland will be accomplished by regrading and planting native cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) and native Atlantic ribbed mussels. Restoration of the eroding beach habitat would occur through the placement of intertidal oyster sills, sandfill, and planting native beach plant species.
