Description

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a final rule with request for comments amending regulations to designate a new registration form for aliens to comply with statutory alien registration and fingerprinting provisions. This rule allows unregistered aliens to use a general registration form to satisfy their statutory obligations. It responds to public comments, adjusts the lists of forms and processes that may serve as registration forms and evidence of alien registration, and seeks comments on potential future changes to alien registration and fingerprinting regulations. The rule is effective June 29, 2026, and comments on additional proposed changes must be submitted by August 28, 2026.
