Description
The natural resource trustee agencies for the Mississippi Trustee Implementation Group (MS TIG) have prepared the Draft Restoration Plan 5 and Environmental Assessment (Draft RP5/EA) to analyze projects aimed at partially restoring resources injured in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The plan evaluates five action alternatives under the Oil Pollution Act, including nutrient reduction and bird restoration projects, as well as a No Action alternative. The total estimated cost to implement the three preferred alternatives is approximately $19,500,000, funded from the Nutrient Reduction and Birds Restoration Type allocations. Public comments on the Draft RP5/EA are invited and must be received by July 29, 2026.
