The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking vendors to participate in the testing and evaluation of short barrel 5.56mm rifles for potential duty use by TXDPS personnel. - Government Buyer: - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Firearms Training Unit, Tactical Training Center - Products/Services Requested: - Submission of three (3) new rifles per model, each equipped with a KeyMicro 3 Prong FH muzzle device and twelve (12) magazines - User/owner's manual for each rifle model - Dead Air Lazarus 6 5.56/6mm KeyMoGov GMS suppressor (to be provided by the respondent's shooting team for testing) - Participation of a shooting team to support the testing process - Testing & Evaluation Details: - Phase I: 10,000-round endurance/reliability test, accuracy assessment, and conditional tests (parts interchange, temperature stress, drop, corrosion resistance, sand/dust exposure) - Phase II: Ergonomics ranking by a panel of 25 shooters - All rifles must be new, representative of production models, and submitted at no cost to DPS - Unique Requirements: - Respondents must provide a shooting team for the evaluation - Suppressor must be brought by the respondent and remains in their possession - No specific OEMs are named; opportunity is open to all manufacturers meeting the requirements - This is for testing and evaluation only; any future procurement will be through a separate solicitation
Description
The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking responses for the testing of short barrel rifles for TXDPS duty use. This solicitation is for testing and evaluation only. Selected rifles will be solicited and awarded under a separate opportunity. The testing includes endurance, reliability, accuracy, and conditional tests, as well as an ergonomics rifle ranking process. Respondents must submit rifles and related materials by the response deadline and may be required to present a shooting team for testing.
