The final rule updated test procedures and added an alternative test device for compliance. In response to the petition from the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association, NHTSA proposes to delay the compliance date from September 1, 2027, to September 1, 2030, for vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) greater than 4,536 kg. Comments on this proposal must be received by July 27, 2026.
