Description
The Assistant Secretary--Indian Affairs approved the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma Leasing Ordinance under the Helping Expedite and Advance Responsible Tribal Homeownership Act of 2012 (HEARTH Act). This approval authorizes the Tribe to enter into leases without further approval from the Secretary of the Interior. The ordinance allows the Tribe to manage leases independently, promoting economic development, self-determination, and Tribal sovereignty. The approval was issued on June 22, 2026.
