Sound Transit is seeking contractors for civil and structural upgrades at 12 Sounder Commuter Rail Stations to support new and upgraded Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) as part of the Passenger Information Management System (PIMS) initiative. - Government Buyer: - Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority (Sound Transit) - Project covers Everett, Mukilteo, Edmonds, King St, Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, Sumner, Puyallup, Tacoma Dome, South Tacoma, and Lakewood stations - Products and Materials Requested: - Replacement and installation of new poles with single-sided and double-sided VMS units - Pre-manufactured light pole assemblies (ASTM/AISC compliant) - Electrical conduits, junction boxes, and appurtenances (concealed installation) - Structural steel materials (wide flange shapes, HSS, tubes, pipe, bolts, anchor bolts, welding electrodes) - Non-shrink grout (5000-6000 PSI) - Stainless steel adhesive anchors and epoxied reinforcing bars (Hilti RE-500 or equivalent) - Services Requested: - Civil and structural installation, including mounting points, poles, arms, NEMA boxes, conduit paths, demolition of existing signs, and site restoration - Deinstallation/reinstallation of peripheral equipment (e.g., static signs, video cameras) - Saw-cutting, trenching, backfill, patch, and repair - As-built documentation and O&M manuals - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Compliance with all relevant building codes and Sound Transit standards - Special inspections required for structural work - Coordination with subsequent data/power work packages - Federally funded contract with small business and DBE participation goals - Scope and requirements vary by station - No specific OEMs for VMS or hardware are named; Hilti is referenced as an approved equivalent for adhesive anchors.
