Sound Transit, the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority, is seeking proposals for a comprehensive Bus Operations Technologies (BOT) System to support its new Bus Base North facility and Stride Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and ST Express bus services. - Government Buyer: - Sound Transit (Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority) - Scope of Procurement: - Design, development, integration, and implementation of a complete BOT System - Includes both hardware and software for onboard vehicle technologies, operations/control center, and central data management - Core BOT systems: Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL), Automated Passenger Counters (APC), Automated Vehicle Announcements (AVA), Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), Vehicle Logic Units (VLU), Mobile Gateway Routers, Voice and Data Communications, and Business Intelligence/Reporting - Elective BOT systems: Charging Management System (CMS) for Battery Electric Buses, Multimedia Onboard Displays, and Central System Based Transit Signal Priority (TSP) - Integration with fare systems, vehicle health monitoring, surveillance, and enterprise asset management - Products/Quantities (selected highlights): - 120 Vehicle Logic Units (VLU) and MDTs, 120 APC and AVA systems, 120 Mobile Gateway Routers, 120 Multimedia Onboard Displays, 28 sets for non-revenue vehicles, and associated spare parts - 8 Operations Control Center workstations, 6 OCC voice communication hardware units - 2 Maintenance Test Benches, 6 Bus-in-a-Box Training Units - Annual and perpetual software licensing, maintenance, and support for BOT system software - Unique/Notable Requirements: - System must support approximately 120 vehicles, with ADA-compliant hardware and high-resolution displays - Charging Management System must provide real-time monitoring, control, and optimization for electric bus charging - Integration with multiple transit and maintenance systems, including real-time passenger information and data feeds - High-availability, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity compliance - Emphasis on DBE and Small Business participation (7.5% goal) - Warranty and maintenance for at least three years post-acceptance, with annual extensions possible - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation; the opportunity is open to all qualified providers of transit operations technology solutions.

Sound Transit is seeking proposals for a comprehensive Bus Operations Technologies (BOT) system to be deployed from the new Bus Base North. The project involves designing, developing, integrating, and implementing a complete BOT system including hardware, software, and data components to effectively monitor and manage transit service operations. The contract term is seven years with possible extensions. A pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for January 27, 2023, and proposals are due by April 12, 2023.
