Description
The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) supports U.S. foreign assistance efforts to counter international narcotics trafficking and transnational crime. Through targeted programs in Central America, INL provides support to strengthen law enforcement systems and improve screening and oversight processes in recipient countries.
As part of U.S. efforts to reduce illicit trafficking and strengthen citizen security in the region, the Department of State, through the Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI), provides support to the Honduran National Police (HNP) to improve recruitment screening and certification processes. Within this framework, the Police Technical Institute (ITP) and the Preventive Confidence Control Center conduct vetting and certification of police applicants and personnel.
