The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is issuing a final rule to remove outdated flame-resistance approval requirements for conveyor belts used in underground coal mines. These requirements are being removed because they contain outdated effective dates and are no longer applicable. The rule streamlines current requirements while maintaining the same level of protection for miners. The effective date of this final rule is July 27, 2026.
