NASA Johnson Space Center is seeking a commercial Animal Care Facility (ACF) to provide basic animal care training for astronauts supporting the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency's Mouse Habitat Unit-11 mission. - Government Buyer: - National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) - Johnson Space Center - NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) - OEMs and Vendors: - K2 BIOLABS, INC. (sole source provider for facility services) - Products and Supplies Requested: - Adult female C57Bl6 mice (30 total; 5 per session for 6 sessions) - Anesthetic drugs: Medetomidine, Midazolam, Butorphanol, Ketamine, Xylazine, Atipamezole, Pentobarbital - Syringes, cardiac puncture tools, blood tubes, toe pinch forceps, cervical dislocation bar, gloves, PPE, rodent handling gloves, wipes, and other basic lab supplies - Services Requested: - Animal care and training sessions: One day setup/practice with facility vet tech and NASA veterinarian(s), plus six half-day training sessions covering animal handling, injections, anesthesia monitoring, blood collection, euthanasia, and cervical dislocation - Facility must be PHS assured and AALAC accredited - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Facility must be located near Johnson Space Center in Houston - Training must be completed by August 15, 2026 - Sole source contract to K2 BIOLABS, INC. - Facility accreditation and compliance with animal care standards required
