Central NY Community Forestry Initiative: Planning, Procurement, and Tree Planting Services

The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) is seeking qualified firms to deliver a comprehensive community forestry program across five counties in Central New York, funded by a USDA Forest Service grant. - Government Buyer: - Central NY Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) - Supported by the USDA Forest Service, Regional Urban and Community Forestry Program - Scope of Work: - Community planning: Develop canopy and site assessments, and create community forest planting and management plans for approximately 25 municipalities - Use advanced GIS, LiDAR, and spatial analysis tools - Provide interactive mapping and a tree ordinance template - Tree procurement and planting: Source and plant at least 3,600 trees (minimum 1" caliper, mix of native and non-invasive species) in priority and disadvantaged areas - Includes initial one-year maintenance and watering - Removal of hazardous or diseased trees as needed, following ANSI and ISA standards - Community outreach and education: Create and maintain a project website, host quarterly education/training events, and conduct public outreach - Reporting and contract administration: Monthly invoicing, quarterly progress reports, and maintenance of an online database of trees and planting sites accessible to municipalities and the public - Products/Services Requested: - Procurement and planting of 3,600 trees - Community planning and canopy assessments - Community outreach and education - Reporting and contract administration - Notable Requirements: - Use of advanced geospatial platforms for canopy monitoring and planning - Annual updates to planting strategies - Emphasis on serving disadvantaged communities - Compliance with ANSI and ISA standards for tree planting and maintenance - Estimated contract value: Not to exceed $5,016,295 - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation

The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) is seeking proposals from qualified firms to plan and implement a comprehensive community forestry program in Central New York, covering Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego counties. Supported by a USDA Forest Service grant awarded in August 2024, the initiative aims to work with approximately 25 communities to plant 3,600 trees over three years. The scope includes community planning, tree procurement and planting, community outreach and education, and reporting and contract administration. The contract term is three years, starting October 1, 2026, through June 5, 2029, with grant funding not to exceed $5,016,295.
