NOAA NWS Hydrogen Generator Maintenance Supplies and Factory Training (Sole Source to NEL Hydrogen US)

NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) is seeking to procure maintenance supplies and factory-certified training for Proton/NEL S-Series Hydrogen Generators used at Upper Air observing stations. - The procurement is structured as an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with an estimated value of $1.5 million over five years. - The contract is intended to be awarded to Proton Energy Systems, Inc. (d/b/a NEL Hydrogen US) as a sole-source provider, justified by the need for OEM-certified parts and training to maintain safety and warranty compliance. - Key products include annual maintenance kits, recommended spare parts kits, and high-use replacement parts (e.g., filters, blower fans, power supplies) specifically for Proton/NEL S-Series Hydrogen Generators. - Factory-certified training is required to ensure that maintenance is performed by authorized personnel, preserving equipment warranties and operational safety. - The period of performance is anticipated from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2031. - The opportunity is limited to the OEM due to proprietary requirements and warranty considerations.
