Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is revising the migratory bird subsistence harvest regulations in Alaska to allow for the continuation of traditional subsistence uses of migratory birds. The regulations were developed cooperatively with Alaska Native representatives and other agencies. The final rule establishes when and where the harvesting of certain migratory birds may occur within each subsistence region. It includes changes such as renaming the Upper Copper River region to the Ahtna Territory region to better reflect community membership and eligible harvest areas. The rule takes effect on June 23, 2026.
