MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is seeking experienced firms capable of providing services or products related to replacing or upgrading the existing RS-485-based passenger communication system on LIRR's diesel locomotives and diesel-hauled coaches. The goal is to gather industry feedback on feasibility, integration impacts, and cost/schedule considerations. Proposals will be evaluated based on feasibility, ease of installation, and minimizing new in-car cable routing, with an emphasis on maintaining interoperability across the fleet. LIRR does not intend to award a purchase based on this RFEI and responses are for information only.
