Description
The Hudson Museum at the University of Maine intends to repatriate five cultural items that are objects of cultural patrimony with cultural affiliation to the Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes. These items include a Chilkat Blanket, Chilkat Shirt, Song Leader Staff, Potlatch Ring Hat, and a Mask. The repatriation is conducted in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Requests for repatriation may be submitted by lineal descendants, Indian Tribes, or Native Hawaiian organizations demonstrating cultural affiliation. Repatriation may occur on or after July 22, 2026.
