Description
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) has awarded a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) sole-source contract to Fairbanks Morse Defense, LLC under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. This contract action was not awarded competitively. The contract is for the procurement of long-lead-time material, specifically proprietary main propulsion diesel engine (MPDE) repair parts, for the USS FORT LAUDERDALE (LPD-28). The items include Fuel Oil Control Linkage Kits, Air Shut-Off Valves, and Exhaust Gas Shut-Off Valves. The rationale for this sole-source action is that Fairbanks Morse Defense is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and the only source capable of providing the required proprietary parts. The Government does not possess the necessary data rights, specialized tooling, or metallurgical expertise to use an alternative source. Procuring from any other source would result in unacceptable schedule delays and a substantial duplication of costs.Additional Links:Department of Defense Procurement ToolboxPIEE Solicitation Module Link for N5005426P0127Registration Instructions for the PIEE Solicitation ModuleWeb Based Training for the PIEE Solicitation Module
