Description
This project involves the installation of a 1.35-mile pedestrian and cycling trail along the Herndon Canal, part of a 7.1-mile Metropolitan Trails System. The trail extends from Shields Avenue and First Street to McKinley Avenue and Millbrook Avenue, connecting four additional trail segments to form a major trail loop in central Fresno. Work includes minor roadway and crossing improvements, installation of a City-furnished prefabricated pedestrian bridge, ADA ramp upgrades, and amenities such as benches, trail lighting, drinking fountains, bicycle racks, dog waste stations, signage, striping, landscaping, and irrigation. Coordination with multiple local agencies including the City of Fresno, Fresno Irrigation District, County of Fresno, San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, and PG&E is required.
