The City of Garland Electric Utility is seeking a contractor to fabricate and galvanize a Mobile Distribution Breaker Unit (MDBU) structural assembly for temporary and emergency deployment in its electrical distribution system. - Government Buyer: - City of Garland, Electric Utility - OEM Highlight: - ABB (R-MAG 15.5kV, 1200A Magnetically Actuated Dead Tank Outdoor Vacuum Circuit Breaker) - Products/Services Requested: - Fabrication and galvanizing of one (1) steel skid-based MDBU structure - Includes all mounting surfaces, brackets, lifting provisions, grounding pads, guying features, and modular design for transport - Must strictly follow City-supplied drawings and specifications - Structure must accommodate the ABB R-MAG breaker (breaker and all electrical equipment are owner-furnished) - Notable Requirements: - Compliance with ASTM standards for materials and galvanizing - Welding must meet AWS D1.1 standards - Structure must be modular, transportable, and suitable for repeated deployment - Must comply with Texas Department of Transportation transport regulations - No installation, wiring, or commissioning of electrical equipment is included in the contractor's scope - All work must meet City of Garland Electric Utility standards and industry best practices

Description

This solicitation is a Request for Bid issued by the City of Garland for the fabrication of one Mobile Distribution Breaker Unit (MDBU). The work includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, galvanizing, fabrication, assembly, and incidentals necessary to manufacture the MDBU in accordance with supplied drawings and specifications. The fabricated assembly must be fully completed, galvanized, and ready to receive Owner-furnished electrical equipment by September 1, 2026. The scope excludes furnishing, installing, wiring, terminating, testing, or commissioning any electrical equipment, which will be provided by the City of Garland.
