NRC-2024-0169
This opportunity concerns a regulatory order, not a procurement action. - The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has extended the effectiveness of a previous order regarding the transfer of a two percent ownership interest in the South Texas Project nuclear facility licenses (Units 1 and 2). - The transfer is from Constellation South Texas, LLC to the City Public Service Board of San Antonio (CPS Energy). - The extension allows more time for applicants to obtain IRS clarification on the tax treatment of nuclear decommissioning trust funds. - The order does not affect the City of Austin's ownership interest. - No products, services, or vendors are being requested or procured; this is a regulatory compliance notice only. - The facilities are located in Matagorda County, Texas.
Description
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is issuing an order to extend until December 11, 2026, the effectiveness of a December 11, 2024 order that approved the direct transfer of a two percent ownership interest in Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-76 and NPF-80 for South Texas Project, Units 1 and 2, and the generally licensed independent spent fuel storage installation from Constellation South Texas, LLC to the City Public Service Board of San Antonio (CPS Energy). The extension is granted to allow additional time to complete conditions related to tax treatment clarifications with the IRS. The order was issued on June 9, 2026, and is effective upon issuance.
