Description
The Maritime Administration (MARAD), under the U.S. Department of Transportation, is authorized to determine the coastwise use of foreign-built, certain U.S.-built, and rebuilt vessels carrying no more than twelve passengers for hire. MARAD has received a request for such a determination regarding the vessel S/V PURPLE PELICAN. This notice solicits public comments to assess whether the proposed use of this foreign-built small passenger vessel would adversely affect U.S. vessel builders or U.S. coastwise trade businesses that use U.S.-built vessels. Comments must be submitted by July 20, 2026, and should include supporting documentation if claiming adverse effects.
