The collection, OMB 2133-0530, is necessary for MARAD to determine if a vessel of 100 feet or greater in registered length is owned and controlled by U.S. citizens and eligible to receive a fishery endorsement to its documentation. The information collected will also be used to ensure compliance with the American Fisheries Act and to check for conflicts with international treaties or agreements. The affected parties include vessel owners, charterers, mortgagees, and financial institutions involved with such vessels.
