Description

The County of Santa Clara Health System Behavioral Health Services Department seeks to award forgivable loans to qualified operators of unlicensed independent living homes serving individuals with Serious Mental Illness experiencing homelessness. The project aims to improve conditions and safety in shared independent living homes and recruit landlords to temporarily house County BHSD clients in homes meeting HUD housing quality standards. Eligible habitability improvements include ADA-compliant bathroom updates, minor renovations, appliance repairs or replacements, fire system upgrades, and other improvements to expand bed capacity. The contract term runs through June 30, 2027, allowing for completion of improvements, inspections, and loan forgiveness verification.
