Description

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting public comments on a proposed Section 4(f) de minimis impact finding related to the replacement of the Gerstle River Bridge (#0520) on the Alaska Highway near MP 1392.5. The project includes work on an existing riprap dike and material extraction from an in-river source, with some activities extending beyond DOT&PF right-of-way into the Delta Junction State Bison Range (DJBR). The DOT&PF plans to acquire right-of-way to include the dike and believes the project will not adversely affect the DJBR. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2029, and comments are requested by July 21, 2026.
