Description

The Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) program supports minority-serving institutions to enhance research capabilities through integration of education and research. The CREST-RISE component focuses on expanding institutional research capacity by strengthening graduate programs and increasing the production of research doctoral students in STEM fields, especially from underrepresented groups. The program supports STEM research doctoral programs in NSF-supported areas and encourages proposals in national interest areas such as AI, data science, advanced materials, and climate change. CREST-RISE projects must align with the host department's long-term plans and the institution's strategic mission, aiming to increase STEM doctoral programs, graduate numbers, and institutional research capacity at MSIs.
