This opportunity from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) seeks proposals for research and training in evolutionary and ecological processes. - Government Buyer: - U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) - OEMs and Vendors: - NSF is the only organization mentioned; no commercial OEMs or vendors are specified - Products/Services Requested: - Research and training services in environmental biology - Focus on evolutionary and ecological processes at multiple biological levels (populations, species, communities, ecosystems, macrosystems, biogeographic extents) - Approaches may include field, laboratory, collection-based, observational, manipulative, synthesis, phylogenetic discovery, and theoretical (analytical, statistical, computational modeling) - Proposals should be submitted to one of four core clusters: Ecosystem Science, Evolutionary Processes, Population and Community Ecology, or Systematics and Biodiversity Science - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Open to U.S.-based institutions of higher education and non-profit, non-academic organizations (e.g., museums, observatories, research labs, professional societies) - Interdisciplinary proposals integrating across biological organization levels or spatial/temporal scales are encouraged - Marine biome research should be directed to the Division of Ocean Sciences or DEB - No cost sharing or matching required - Total estimated funding: $100,000,000; individual awards: $5,000 to $5,000,000

Description

The Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) supports research and training on evolutionary and ecological processes at various biological levels including populations, species, communities, ecosystems, macrosystems, and biogeographic extents. Research may involve field, laboratory, or collection-based approaches, observational or manipulative studies, synthesis activities, phylogenetic discovery projects, or theoretical approaches such as analytical, statistical, or computational modeling. Proposals should be submitted to core clusters including Ecosystem Science, Evolutionary Processes, Population and Community Ecology, and Systematics and Biodiversity Science. DEB encourages interdisciplinary proposals that integrate across biological organization levels or spatial and temporal scales. Research related to marine biomes should be directed to appropriate programs within the Division of Ocean Sciences or DEB.
