Description
The Joint Personal Property Shipping Office Mid-Atlantic (JPPSOMA) manages the packing, containerization, and delivery of Direct Procurement Method (DPM) personal property shipments for DoW members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Funding for these moves is authorized on each member’s travel orders and paid for from a central DoW account. Orders are placed by JPPSOMA through the Transportation Office using established contract rates. JPPSOMA is responsible for acquiring, managing, and overseeing the movement of household goods (HHG), unaccompanied baggage (UB), and non-temporary storage (NTS) shipments within a 35,000-square-mile Area of Responsibility (AOR) that includes Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, 40 counties, and 10 independent cities. The office processes over 55,000 personal property shipments annually, with approximately 18,333 shipments performed under the DPM method.
