The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support Philadelphia is conducting market research for suppliers of commercial food components used in Unitized Group Rations (UGR) for military feeding programs. - Government Buyer: - Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support Philadelphia, Operational Rations Program Office - Products/Services Requested: - Wide range of canned, dehydrated, and packaged food items for UGR Heat and Serve and UGR Marines (UGR-M) programs - Items include: canned fruits and vegetables (applesauce, peas, cranberry sauce, corn, fruit cocktail, peaches, pears, beans, carrots, mixed vegetables, black beans, jalapeno peppers, mushrooms), pie fillings, canned meats (ham, chicken, hash), dehydrated potatoes, grits, brown rice, whole grain pasta, oatmeal, syrups, jellies, jams, puddings, cheese spread, soy sauce, catsup, sauces, cheddar cheese shreds, dehydrated onions, butter flavored granules, gravy and sauce mixes, seasoning mixes, salt and pepper packs, Italian seasoning, icing mixes, sugars, and shortening compound - Each item is specified by National Stock Number (NSN) and detailed product description - Notable Requirements: - Suppliers must demonstrate ability to meet increased quantity and accelerated delivery (surge and sustainment) for DoD contingencies and emergencies - Information requested on company capabilities, experience with large quantity acquisitions, storage and delivery, and pricing supported by manufacturer invoices - No specific OEMs or brands are mandated; products must meet U.S. Grade A or equivalent standards and detailed specifications - OEMs: - No specific OEMs or manufacturers are named; products are commercial food commodities meeting federal and military specifications

Description

This is a Sources Sought Notice.  The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support Philadelphia Operational Rations Program Office is interested in your feedback regarding the Commercial Components program for Unitized Group Rations. The components are utilized in the UGR Heat and Serve, and UGR Marines (UGR-M) program.

DLA Troop Support Philadelphia continually evaluates the current industrial base, acquisition approaches, supply chain management alternatives and industry interest in this program.  Of particular interest is a supplier’s ability to meet increased quantity and or accelerated delivery requirements, in support of Department of Defense contingencies and/or emergency peacetime requirements.  This capability includes both the ability to ramp up to meet early delivery or increased requirements (i.e., Surge), as well as to sustain an increased production and delivery pace throughout the contingency (i.e., Sustainment).

This is not a solicitation for proposals, and there is no solicitation available currently.  The Government will not pay for any information received in response to this notification, nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing the information provided to the Government.  This notification does not constitute a commitment from the Government, and any information provided in response to this notification will be used for informational purposes only.  Any proprietary information submitted will be protected if appropriately marked.  Vendor participation is not a promise for future business with the Government. The sole purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to conduct Market Research.
