The Department of Energy (DOE), through the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), has issued a final rule updating export regulations for nuclear technology: - The rule amends 10 CFR Part 810 to add Thailand to the list of generally authorized destinations for exports of controlled nuclear technology and assistance - This regulatory change aligns with a prior Secretarial Determination and supports peaceful nuclear trade - No specific Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), vendors, or commercial products are referenced in this notice - The rule does not request any products, services, part numbers, or purchase quantities - The main requirement is the regulatory update, which reduces administrative burdens for small businesses exporting nuclear technology to Thailand
Description
This final rule by the Department of Energy adds Thailand to the list of generally authorized destinations for exports of controlled nuclear technology and assistance under DOE's regulation on Assistance to Foreign Atomic Energy Activities. The rule is effective June 16, 2026, and aligns the regulatory appendix with a Secretarial Determination issued on April 13, 2026. The rule does not impose new burdens or duties and is intended to facilitate peaceful nuclear trade by ensuring exports are not used for non-peaceful purposes.
