The National Park Service (NPS), part of the Department of the Interior, is seeking a contractor to repair and upgrade the steam generator system on Train Car X5313 at Steamtown National Historic Site. - Government Buyer: - Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Steamtown National Historic Site - Offices involved: Facility Management Program; Contracting Operations (ConOps) East, New York MABO; Contracting Office, Staten Island NY - Products and Equipment Requested: - New high-pressure steam generator (approx. 2000 MBH input, 1590 lbs/hr steam output, ASME Section I compliant) - Reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment system (min. 10,000 gallons/day, 300-gallon stainless steel storage tank) - Dedicated compressed air system (min. 5 HP motor, continuous rail-mounted operation) - Low-friction composite brake shoes for ABD-X brake system - Government-furnished 125 kW Kohler diesel generator (model 125REOZJG) to be installed and integrated - Services Required: - Full repair and upgrade of Train Car X5313's steam generator system, including mechanical, structural, electrical, and systems integration work - Installation and integration of new equipment and systems - Conversion to Head End Power (HEP) capability, including electrical and steam trainline systems at both ends of the car - Maintenance, repair, and rebuild of railway equipment - Testing, regulatory compliance (FRA and AAR standards), and exterior restoration - Unique/Notable Requirements: - All new equipment must be suitable for rail-mounted service and comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards - Contractor must perform inspections, system fabrication, and provide all labor and materials except for the government-furnished generator - Project is set aside for small businesses under NAICS 336510 (Railroad Rolling Stock Manufacturing) - Period of performance is 120 days (approx. 4 months) after contract award - No specific OEMs or part numbers for the steam generator, RO system, compressed air system, or brake shoes are specified; the Kohler generator is government-furnished
