Description

This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to Task Aerospace, Inc. (CAGE: 99YV8, UEI: URXHLS476EB4) for the acquisition of the Task Aerospace PN 740055-1 cartridge actuated initiator and its associated test fixture design. The U.S. Navy requires the procurement of developmental CAD/PAD technologies critical for the CAD/PAD Joint Program Office’s mission, specifically in widening the CAD/PAD JPO sources of supply for JAU-72B/A Cartridge Actuated Initiators. This acquisition will allow for feasibility testing of an alternate source of supply for the JAU-72B/A V-22 external initiators in support of the CAD/PAD Joint Program Office.

The estimated award date is 02 July 2026 and the estimated value is $850,000. The estimated period of performance is 01 August 2026 to 1 August 2027. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, Task Aerospace, Inc., under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.103-1, "Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements."

Task Aerospace, Inc. investigated the V-22 external initiator and performance requirements from NCRADA-NSWCIH-24-308, developed their design for the V-22 external initiator, and now this acquisition of test samples and test fixture will verify the TASK PN 740055-1 performance. The V-22 external initiator initiates the ballistic sequence to detonate the severance assemblies in an emergency aircrew escape scenario. Additionally, this contract will be awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement between the Government and Task Aerospace, Inc.
