The FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Office of Applied Sciences Veterinary Research Branch (VRB), is seeking specialized bioinformatics services to support livestock genomics research. - Government Buyer: - Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Office of Applied Sciences Veterinary Research Branch (VRB) - Products/Services Requested: - Visual validation of 2,000 genomic variants in CRISPR/Cas9 gene-edited swine whole genome sequencing data - Generation of CRISPRme-ready variant call files (VCFs) for at least two pig breeds - Generation of breed-specific VCFs for four additional species/breeds (cattle, chicken, swine) - Development of scripts and workflows for data processing - Comprehensive reporting and project management - Data transfer via the precisionFDA platform - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Focus on CRISPR/Cas9 gene-edited livestock (swine, cattle, chicken) - Deliverables include validated datasets, breed-specific VCFs, scripts, workflows, and reports - Services must be provided by a small business under a firm fixed price contract - One-year period of performance - No specific OEMs or commercial vendors are named; the opportunity is open to qualified small businesses with bioinformatics expertise.

Description

CVM possesses significant bioinformatics expertise; however, personnel with the specific skills to perform these tasks are currently allocated to other high-priority agency projects. To meet the urgent timelines for this analysis, CVM requires external, focused support to perform the necessary visual validation of swine variants from an already generated list of candidate variants and the generation of CRISPRme input files for cattle, chicken, and swine. This approach will allow the project to proceed efficiently while enabling CVM's internal experts to provide oversight and ensure the validated variants and CRISPRme input files meet their precise scientific requirements.
