Description

This is a proposed rule by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to extend the attainment date for the South Coast nonattainment area for the 2012 annual PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) from December 31, 2025, to December 31, 2030. The extension is based on the conclusion that the State has satisfied the requirements for such an extension under section 188(e) of the Clean Air Act. The proposal includes a demonstration that attainment by the original date is impracticable, compliance with all requirements and commitments in the implementation plan, and that the plan includes the most stringent measures feasible. Public comments are accepted until July 13, 2026.
