Description
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to grant an extension of the applicable Serious area attainment date for the San Joaquin Valley nonattainment area for the 2012 annual fine particulate matter (PM2.5) national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) from December 31, 2025, to December 31, 2030. This extension is based on a proposed determination that the State has satisfied the statutory criteria for this extension. The EPA will accept public comments on this proposed rulemaking during a 30-day comment period ending July 13, 2026. The proposal includes a demonstration that the plan provides for attainment by the most expeditious alternative date practicable and that the State has complied with all relevant requirements and commitments.
