Description

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) intends to enter into an agreement with GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences for specialized laboratory testing of rock thermal, petrophysical and mineralogical properties. GFZ is considered uniquely qualified due to its expertise in thermophysical testing for geothermal applications and its proven capability to deliver high-quality, reliable thermal data critical to subsurface assessments. GFZ has demonstrated technical capability and methodological consistency by completing an initial round of thermal analyses on 23 Precambrian and sedimentary rock samples for the Alberta Geological Survey, ensuring data comparability and continuity for this project.
