Description
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing significant new use rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for certain chemical substances that were the subject of premanufacture notices (PMNs) and are also subject to an Order issued by EPA pursuant to TSCA. These SNURs require persons intending to manufacture or process these chemical substances for activities designated as significant new uses to notify EPA at least 90 days before commencing such activities. The notification initiates EPA's evaluation, and manufacturing or processing may not begin until EPA completes its review and makes an appropriate determination. The proposal includes detailed protective measures and hazard communication requirements to mitigate potential risks to human health and the environment.
