Description
The Department of the Interior, through the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), is finalizing a rule to incorporate by reference a collection of industry standards related to production measurement and safety for oil, gas, and sulfur operations on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This update provides industry with current standards for measuring production volumes and enhancing safety, reducing measurement uncertainties, and updating safety minimum standards. The rule incorporates 23 new standards and updates 40 existing standards developed by industry organizations such as API, AGA, GPA, and ASME. The rule is effective August 10, 2026.
