Description

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has prepared pest risk assessments (PRAs) and risk management documents (RMDs) regarding the importation of fresh pineapple from the Philippines and Thailand into the United States. Currently, fresh pineapple from the Philippines is allowed into Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the North Atlantic U.S. region, while pineapple from Thailand is allowed into all U.S. ports except Hawaii with irradiation treatment. The Philippines and Thailand have requested expanded import authorization for all varieties of fresh pineapple into all U.S. ports, with Thailand also requesting importation without irradiation. APHIS is making the PRAs and RMDs available for public review and comment before deciding on revising import requirements.
