Description
The SUPPORT Act, enacted on October 24, 2018, amended the Controlled Substances Act to expand conditions for medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder, including provisions for pharmacies to deliver controlled substances for maintenance or detoxification treatments. The DEA issued an interim final rule in November 2020 to implement these provisions, which is now finalized with minor modifications, and also incorporates provisions from the 2022 Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act. This final rule aligns DEA regulations with recent legislative changes to facilitate medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.
