(Model PC-12/47E airplanes) - Honeywell International Inc. (Primus APEX avionics software) - Products/Services Requested: - For Airbus A350-941: - Replacement of affected fasteners (part number EN6115 code B) at the center wing box and belly fairing junctions - Application of additional head nut cap protection to address structural integrity and fire hazard concerns - For Pilatus PC-12/47E: - Update of Honeywell Primus APEX operational software - Incorporation of a Pilatus Pilots Operating Handbook (POH) temporary revision to address inappropriate stall warning system activation - Unique or Notable Requirements: - The directives are regulatory safety actions, not procurement solicitations or awards - Compliance is mandatory for affected U.S.-registered aircraft within specified timeframes - The Airbus directive specifically targets fasteners with part number EN6115 code B due to improper retorque processes - The Pilatus directive requires both a software update and a procedural handbook revision to ensure proper stall warning system operation - **No specific purchase quantities, contract values, or procurement actions are included; these are compliance mandates for aircraft operators.

Description

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus SAS Model A350-941 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a manufacturing investigation that found improper application of the fastener retorque process at the center wing box (CWB) and belly fairing (BF) junctions could lead to insufficient clamping. The AD requires replacing each affected part and applying additional head nut cap protection to address the unsafe condition. The directive aims to ensure the continued safety of these airplanes by preventing potential structural integrity issues and compliance failures with electromagnetic hazard requirements.
