The City of Lakeland is seeking proposals for citywide drug and alcohol testing services to support all municipal departments and work locations. - Buyer: City of Lakeland, Risk Management & Purchasing Department - Services requested: - DOT and non-DOT drug screening - DOT and non-DOT alcohol testing - On-site after-hours and random drug/alcohol testing - Management of the random selection process for testing pools - No specific OEMs are required, as this is a services contract - Current provider: Medi-Test, Inc. (incumbent, but not an OEM) - Notable requirements: - Compliance with all federal, state, local, and city laws (including the Florida Drug-Free Workplace Act) - Ability to serve approximately 2,700 employees (including 1,600 first responders and 400 commercial drivers) - Experience with public entities, especially those with police, fire, electric, and water utilities - Services must be professional, confidential, and compliant - Contract may be extended to other Florida public agencies under the Interlocal Cooperation Act - Contract term: Three years, with two optional one-year extensions (up to five years total)

Description

The City of Lakeland is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide drug and alcohol testing services across all city departments and locations. The services include comprehensive, confidential, and legally compliant drug and alcohol screening, including DOT and non-DOT tests, on-site testing, and random selection processes. The contract period starts June 1, 2026, for three years, with options to extend for two additional one-year periods. The contract may also be utilized by other public agencies in Florida.
