The City of Commerce is seeking qualified artists, painters, and design firms for a three-phase beautification project of three BNSF/UPRR railroad bridges: - Government Buyer: - City of Commerce, Department of Public Works - Contact: Shahid Abbas, Director of Public Works - Project Scope: - Three independent phases for each bridge: - Bridge Painting: Application of paint to all surfaces, including columns and undersides, using Sherwin-Williams or approved equal products - Artwork Concept Development: Creation of artwork concepts for bridge façades, incorporating color elements and the City’s logo/seal, with multiple revision cycles and presentations to City Council - Artwork Installation: Installation of approved artwork, including surface preparation, patching, and application of protective sealant, with compliance to railroad safety and insurance requirements - Proposers may submit for one, two, or all three phases; each phase may be awarded independently for each bridge - Locations: - BNSF Bridge on Atlantic Blvd north of Bandini Blvd ("Bridge to the Future") - UPRR Bridge at Atlantic Blvd south of Ferguson Dr ("Mixmaster") - UPRR Bridge on Garfield Ave south of Ferguson Dr - Notable Requirements: - Mandatory site visit and pre-assessment for all bridge locations - Adherence to design constraints: prohibition of orange and red colors, preference for simple and clean designs, and mandatory inclusion of the City seal/logo - Compliance with railroad agency approvals, safety protocols, and insurance requirements - Use of specified or approved paint products (Sherwin-Williams or equal) - Separate fee proposals required for each phase and bridge - OEM Highlight: - Sherwin-Williams specified as the paint manufacturer (or approved equal) - No specific part numbers or quantities provided; services are project-based

Description

The City of Commerce is soliciting proposals from qualified artists, painters, and design firms for the beautification of three BNSF/UPRR bridges located in the City of Commerce. The project is divided into three independent phases: bridge painting, artwork concept development, and artwork installation. Proposers may submit proposals for one, two, or all three phases, and the City reserves the right to award phases independently for each bridge or not award any phase. A mandatory site visit and pre-assessment are required prior to proposal submission, and a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
